Fehr Graham, a leading Midwest engineering and environmental firm, is proud to announce that two of its projects are among the 66 selected to receive funding through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) funding, which supports transportation alternatives to traditional roadways. Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced $139.2 million in funding May 21 to expand travel options and improve quality of life across the state.
Fehr Graham clients – the Village of Savoy and the Village of Pingree Grove – secured nearly $3.5 million combined to continue developing bike and pedestrian paths designed by the firm. These projects create safer, more accessible routes for walking and biking, encouraging healthy habits and stronger community connections.
Savoy received nearly $1.3 million in this funding cycle for Phase II of the Prairie Fields path. Fehr Graham designed Phase I and helped the Village submit a successful ITEP application. The path begins at the Casey Busey Path near the elementary school, runs along the Prairie Fields subdivision and connects to the First Street path, another Fehr Graham project. Phase II will extend the path south to Colbert Park and neighborhoods south of Church Street, completing a continuous north-south trail through the Village. IDOT and Village officials gathered at Colbert Park to celebrate the award.
The Village of Pingree Grove received more than $2.2 million for a shared-use path extension along Illinois 72 from Reinking Road to Thurnau Road. This builds on a $2.5 million ITEP grant awarded in the previous funding cycle for Phase I, also designed by Fehr Graham.
Fehr Graham specializes in transportation planning and engineering solutions, offering services that range from traffic studies to road and bridge design and construction management. The firm's work on these path projects helps reduce congestion, promote alternative transportation and improve community livability.
