Fehr Graham helps Mendota advance Illinois Avenue redevelopment with $1.3M EPA brownfield grant

The City of Mendota has begun demolishing two buildings in the 800 block of Illinois Avenue as part of a $1.3 million Environmental Protection Agency brownfield grant. The funding supports demolition, environmental cleanup and redevelopment planning at the former auto parts store and laundromat sites, along with additional property along the corridor.

Future plans for the site include a pavilion and community gathering space. Fehr Graham is supporting the project through grant administration and site planning, including early design of the pavilion.

The community will play a role in shaping the space through Reimagine Mendota, which is gathering input from residents on design and amenities. The group is working with the City and project partners to advance the concept and support fundraising efforts. The goal is to raise $100,000 locally, with a dollar-for-dollar match from Black Brothers Inc. to help bring the project to life.
