In one of the largest construction projects in the history of Winnebago County, Illinois, Mercyhealth developed and built a $505 million healthcare complex along the I-90 corridor in the City of Rockford, Illinois. Fehr Graham partnered with AECOM and worked with local municipalities and government officials to complete this project on an accelerated schedule and within budget.

The Fehr Graham team completed topographical and boundary surveys, schematic design and final civil design to accommodate the 500,000-square-foot hospital. Our team completed Planned Unit Development (PUD) and the final platting of the healthcare campus.

We conducted a traffic impact study taking into consideration the hospital and anticipated future commercial development in the area. We also completed a design study for the intersections of Mercy Way, Riverside Boulevard, and Lyford Road.

The team assessed the environmental conditions for the surrounding wetlands and endangered species. Our engineers designed detention areas for the large site and layout for the utilities to service the eight-story building. We collaborated with landscape architects to determine the best locations for sidewalks, parking lot configurations, and landscape berms which were incorporated into the final grading plan.

Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside opened in January 2019. It is a catalyst for economic development in northeast Rockford.
