Fehr Graham helps Evergreen Park to advance state funding request for park improvements

The Village of Evergreen Park, Illinois, shared updated Yukich Fields expansion plans at a recent public open house as it renewed its push for $600,000 in state funding.

The Village is seeking an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant to create recreation areas on a vacant parcel along 91st Street and Kedzie Avenue just south of the park. The grant would also support improvements throughout Yukich Fields.

As the landscape architect, engineering consultant and funding advisor for the proposed $1.2 million project, Fehr Graham supported the Village during the open house by presenting updated concepts for the park expansion. Proposed improvements include four youth soccer fields, a 34-space parking lot, a playground and an interactive ball wall. The improvements are designed to expand recreational opportunities for residents while creating a more accessible and family-friendly community gathering space.

Fehr Graham Landscape Architect Mark Decker, PLA, ASLA, said municipalities that have completed similar park improvements have received positive feedback from residents and visitors.

The Village is expected to submit the grant application this fall, with funding decisions anticipated in January 2027.
