Fehr Graham's engineering shines in Ellis Golf Course Clubhouse design

Ellis Golf Course continues to make waves in the world of design and recognition. The course, at 401 Zika Drive NW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been racking up awards since its grand opening in July 2022.

The latest comes from Metal Architecture, a monthly publication distributed across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The magazine featured the clubhouse as its cover story, highlighting its design and innovation. The Corridor Business Journal's Commercial Real Estate Design Awards honored the design with the Best New Civic Development, reflecting commitment to community betterment.

Iowa Architect Magazine also joined in the praise, dedicating a four-page feature to the clubhouse in its fall 2023 issue. The Wood Products Council presented the WoodWorks Wood Design Award for Regional Excellence to the golf course in January.

The $3.5 million, 5,820 square-foot clubhouse needed replacing after the 2020 derecho caused extensive damage. OPN Architects designed the building, which Fehr Graham and Structural Design Group brought to life.

The clubhouse features a concession area, stocked pro shop and space for indoor events with more patio room with breathtaking views.
