Manchester students spend day on sites

Six students from West Delaware High School and South Winneshiek High School hit the road to visit Fehr Graham's Manchester, Iowa, office. The students met with our engineering, global information systems and project support teams. Brian McWilliams and Tyler Olson, engineers, took the students to visit a few sites.

The first stop was the Manchester Wastewater Treatment Plant facility. Students met plant operators Perry Peterson and Garrett Schissel and learned about why managing wastewater is crucial in a thriving community.

The next stop was just that - a stop - at the intersection of East Delaware and Tama streets. Fehr Graham helped the city review costs to relocate sanitary sewer main, increase water to provide suitable fire protection and contact the affected franchise utilities for the development plan to move forward.

Fehr Graham advocates for educational programs that introduce students to science, technology, engineering and math careers. The Northeast Iowa Community College Career Learning Link is a program that exposes students to high-demand career areas and sets them on the pathway to career and educational success beyond high school. The program provides work-based learning opportunities for students in partnership with local businesses.
