A new All-In Grocers in Waterloo, Iowa, will bring a grocery store and restaurant to the northeastern side of town. Levi Architecture hired Fehr Graham to help with the site layout, landscaping plan and stormwater management designs.

The lot wasn't large enough to allow for a traditional detention pond, so our team used an underground detention system to maximize the land's potential. The detention chambers will be built with a stone matrix (like a bridge) to spread the weight of the parking lot across the slab. This also allowed the owners to use nearly every foot of space on the site for the building and provide ample parking for patrons.

Our team worked with the architects and client to provide the most effective use of space. We made the designs more functional and comprehensive by eliminating overflow parking and including the underground detention system.

The store will be the first in the area within walking distance for many residents.
