Officials in Farmer City, Illinois, contacted Spear Corp. for cost estimates to improve their public pool, which was built in the early 1970s. As the conversation progressed, Spear recommended Fehr Graham to complete design work and to secure permits for the renovations to all three swimming areas – a large L-shaped pool, a rectangular teaching pool and a small baby pool.

The City needed to complete an emergency improvement before the pool could open in summer 2019. Fehr Graham designed the repairs to replace the defective concrete around the diving well of the large pool.

Fehr Graham recommended replacing the gutter on the lap pool and recoating with Diamond Brite Pool Plaster. The baby pool and teaching pool were replaced with a larger, zero-entry pool, which makes it safer for young children because of the gradual entry into the water. The entire deck was replaced with a chemical feed system and filters. Other miscellaneous mechanical items also were upgraded. The bathhouse was modified to meet Americans with Disabilities Act compliance standards.
