Rockford, South Beloit awarded Environmental Protection Agency grants for cleanup efforts

EPA Award in Rockford
Projects in Rockford, Illinois, like Colman Village (pictured above), Embassy Suites and the UW Health Sports Factory benefited from funding from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grants. The cities of Rockford and South Beloit were each awarded $300,000 EPA Community-wide Assessment Grants, which will help fund assessments of brownfield sites.

Two communities in northern Illinois were among 149 that received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grants this week. The cities of Rockford and South Beloit will each use a $300,000 Community-wide Assessment Grant to fund environmental assessment and cleanup planning for contaminated sites affected by hazardous substances, pollutants and/or petroleum.

Both cities are longtime Fehr Graham clients. These awards represent a major step in transforming and redeveloping blighted properties throughout the community.
