Fehr Graham, a leading Midwest engineering and environmental firm, announced the promotion of Sam Ertl, PE, to Project Manager.
Ertl works in Fehr Graham's Manchester office, where he leads civil engineering projects. In his new role, he takes on expanded responsibilities in project oversight, client communication and business development. He manages projects from planning through delivery, coordinates with design staff, and works closely with clients to support their goals and identify needs.
As a Project Manager, Ertl manages multiple projects and guides design teams, balancing technical oversight with client relations and pursuit efforts. He also plays a growing role in business development by maintaining client relationships and engaging prospects. As the team grows, Ertl will take on direct reports and mentor staff as part of Fehr Graham's long-term leadership development.
Ertl joined Fehr Graham in 2020 after interning with the firm. He earned his Professional Engineer license in Iowa and was promoted to Project Engineer in 2025.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He is a graduate of the Buchanan County Leadership Development Program.
